Oerlikon aims to become the trusted partner for OEMs in India: In September, the groundbreaking ceremony for the third manufacturing plant took place in the automobile hub of Sanand in the state of Gujarat.

欧瑞康的目标是成为印度原始设备制造商值得信赖的合作伙伴：9月，欧瑞康第三家制造工厂的开工仪式在古吉拉特邦萨纳恩德的汽车中心举行。

Segment Drive Systems commenced work on its third manufacturing plant in India with a groundbreaking ceremony on September 14, 2013 on the site which is located in the automobile hub of Sanand in the state of Gujarat. Drive Systems has been present in India since 1999, with production sites of both its brands Oerlikon Graziano and Oerlikon Fairfield at Greater Noida and Belgaum respectively. Earlier this year, New Delhi was chosen as the home location for the global CEO of Segment Drive Systems. With the region acquiring increasing significance for Oerlikon, both as a market and a manufacturing base, this new investment will further boost the company’s ambition to be a trusted partner for OEMs in emerging markets as it already is in the developed markets.

The ground-breaking ceremony involved offering prayers to the almighty for successful completion of the project and was led by Mr Heriberto Diarte, CEO of Segment Drive Systems, in the presence of Mr. Khurshed Thanawalla, Country Representative, Oerlikon Group, India, and senior management team of Drive Systems India.

Tree plantation and CSR activity was carried out thereafter followed by a Press Conference. While addressing the media Diarte said, “This marks an important milestone for the further development of Drive Systems in India. With the new capacities we will not only continue our growth in India but upgrade our capabilities to more high-tech driven products.”
