                                                                Frederick's toys

“Surely you're not leaving your toys on the floor all night?” said Frederick's mother, when she saw the muddle （混乱状态） in his bedroom.

 “What a lazy boy you are!”

But Frederick took no notice, and got straight into bed. He lay awake for a while thinking about his toys.

Suddenly, the room was in a turmoil（混乱、骚乱）. The fire engine was racing across the room, its siren（警报器；汽笛） blaring（发出刺耳的声音）. “Ow! Oo! Ouch!” （疼痛时使用的象声词）howled the teddy bear, clutching（紧抓、紧握）his right paw, which had just been run over by the tipper truck. CRASH! Went the house of bricks, as it all tumbled down.

“Stop!” Frederick called out in a panic. “Please be good! From now on, I promise I shall always put you away at night.”

When Frederick woke in the morning, his room was quiet. He wondered whether it was all a dream, but he kept his promise.

1. take no notice

Notice 作为“留意、关注”的意思时，可以使用动词，也可以使用名词。在写作时更替使用名词和动词表达同一意思，可避免用词单调。
