Some people believe that society should try to save every plant and animal species, despite the expense to humans in effort, time, and financial well-being. Others believe that society need not make extraordinary efforts, especially at a great cost in money and jobs, to save endangered species.

Plants and animals are important components of the ecosystem. It is necessary to save them from dying out from the earth. However, it doesn't mean that all sources should be used to help them as there are also many human beings need the helping.
Plants and animals are not only food of human, but also essential for maintaining ecosystem balance and the biological chains. If the society doesn't try its best to save these species, when one species die out some other species may also be extinct from the earth leading by the first extinction. For example, as the usage of pesticide bee are extinct in some countries. Because of the loss of bee, many plants can't get pollination and causes decreasing in agriculture production. Therefore, the governments and scientists put a lot of efforts in to solve this problem corporately. Base on human's benefit, it will be worthy to put extraordinary amount of time, money and labour to save plants and animals.
Even though the former statement is acceptable, the second one is more reasonable. The society still have to consider about other human beings who are suffering. The relationship between human and other species is like neighbourhood. We should take care of our neighbours, but it is more important to look after our own families. Many people from the third world are struggling against poverty, diseases or war. The endangered species are eager for help as well as these people. Furthermore, poverty sometimes is the cause of species extinction. In , elephants are endangered as villagers killed them for their precious teeth. Those people will get punished for hunting, but indeed they will not kill the elephants if they can earn enough money to survive. Therefore, apply less sources to saving animals and plants, and use the sources to help people who need them. It will also save other species in another way.
In addition, all creatures are under evolution that some species will die out ultimately even there is no human influence. Although human activity accelerate some species' extinction. It's impossible and meaningless to save a species which is meant to disappear. Therefore, the best strategy is try the society's bet to maintain the speed of evolution rather than stop it.
In conclusion, every animal and plant is an important part of ecosystem, so we should try to save them. However, many people are also waiting for help, and extinction is destiny of all species. The society should help people first and try to save other species after that.
